How To Believe In God’s Plan For Your Life

Have you ever wondered about God’s plan for your life?

If you will ever get your dream job, live in your dream home, take that trip you’ve always wanted, get married and have kids? The list could go on. We all have questioned this at one point or another. Not knowing what lies ahead can be frustrating and at times discouraging but part of being a follower of Jesus means having faith that the Lord will look after our every need. Sometimes it’s just easier said than done. At times we need an encouraging reminder that God knows the plans He has for us.

Sometimes we need some encouragement to help remind us that God’s Word does not return void. His Word says that He has good plans for us. When we remain in His will, not only will our every need be met, our life will overflow with His goodness.  Lets look at a few scriptures that I find helpful when I start questioning God’s plan for my own life.

How to believe in God's plan for your life.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, And He delights in his way [and blesses his path]. Psalm 37:23

The Lord knew you before you were even born. He had plans in mind for your life to bless you even before He formed you  in the womb.  Isn’t just the thought of that amazing?! He already has set you apart to do great things and has recorded this all without you needing to do or be anything. This is God’s plan simply because He is a good father and loves His children.

When we are obedient to the Lord, seeking Him in all that we do, He will allow our cup to run over with blessing. The Word says that when we delight ourselves in the Lord He will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).

The Bible also tells us that our words and thoughts have power. One thing that I like to do is journal about the vision for my life and then pray about it.

I bring my heart’s desires to the Lord and tell Him about the vision that I have for my life. I truly believe that He doesn’t just provide our basic needs. He wants to bless us with things that we find enjoyment in. Then I also ask the Lord to search my heart and for the Holy Spirit to show me areas that need healing or desires that are not in line with His will.

It’s so exciting when we allow God to inspire us. He allows us to be creative. He amazes us with the things that He can make happen just because He loves us. This is something that I do frequently. Taking time to visualize my dreams and goals and sharing them with the Lord helps remind me that He knows the plans He has for me and that He wants to come alongside me in making those dreams happen.

What dreams do you have for your future? What desires of your heart are you bringing to the Lord? I pray that you would draw near to Him and seek his presence. That today you grow in faith in believing that God wants to bless you with the desires of your heart and that this has inspired you to start believing in God’s plan for your life.
